Right on!  Thanks so much, Ron!  The first line of my files were
/var/log/minivend/* and /var/log/interchange/*.

Log rotation never occurred to me (none of my other rotated logs are
compressed, so I didn't make the connection).  Let's see, I guess they were
doubling every week.....(shudder)..... whew, boy, reminds me of some of
those old sci-fi movies where the monster grows and grows!
