Does that code do something important that the standard [dump] tag
doesn't do for you?

Reply-To: interchange-users@lists.akopia.com

I want to mention a few things I missed in the announcement about the IC
4.7.1 alpha release.

First, there's a new demo that replaces 'construct'. It's called
'foundation'. It is set up and implemented in a very similar way, but
should be a little bit simpler, has much cleaner HTML (using CSS), the
option to try out different sample product sets or none at all, and a few
new features.

Brev Patterson and Jason Kohles here at Red Hat have done great work on it
so far, and they're still improving things during the 4.7.x development
cycle.

The documentation is moving along, with Bill Dawkins of our professional
services group taking time out to work on the tag reference (ictags) and
bring it up to date and make it complete.

The docs released in 4.7.1 have some severely messed up formatting in
places, due to bad document conversion. So don't take them too seriously
yet ...

We'd love to have assistance from the user community on documentation.
Several ways to contribute are:

(1) When you figure out something that had you stumped, add an annotation
to the online docs. I recently pulled several useful notes out of there
and added them to the main documentation set. It's easy, quick, and gets
help immediately to the other users.

(2) Send us fixes to inaccurate or incomplete parts of the current docs.
If something's totally undocumented and you figure it out, write it up and
send it to the list.

(3) Write a new tutorial like 'iccattut'. It's harder than it looks, but
you always learn new things yourself in the process.

Jon

G'Day Christopher,

You can find it in the UserTags manual. Since it was a user submitted tag...

**Lots** of what we do is so old that it's been redone or provided
in other ways. TIMTOWTDI. I've no idea what the [dump] tag does; sounds
promising. Still a perl sub is easier **for us** to tie into embedded
perl and customize for whatever we are doing. YMMV.

Just as an asside, I'm working on an interchange-mode for emacs. My
philosophy is "why re-invent the wheel when there's a perfectly
servicible Hummer right here to use?" A little glue here, a little
elisp there and we're all happy!

thanks Christopher.It works fine now. Nice script you
made!

I can advice everyone to try this out, it really shows
a lot about what's going on whith interchange and can
be used as a nice debug feature. I resumed it here
below:

just enter in interchange.cfg:
#------------------------------
Usertag realperl HasEndTag
Usertag realperl CanNest
Usertag realperl Interpolate
Usertag realperl Routine <<EOF
sub {
    my $str = eval {
        eval $_[0] or die;
    };
}
EOF
#-------------------------------

this defines the [realperl] tag.
Then make a normal interchange page in
catalogdir/pages whith the following content and open
it from your browser:

#!/usr/bin/perl
# sessiondump.html
# rev 2000-12-21, cfm for perl 5.6 ref
[tag op=header]
Content-Type: text/plain
[/tag]
[realperl] {
    my(@OUT,@foo,$i,$test,$what);
    @foo=["Vend::",''];
    $i=0;
    while($what = shift @foo) {
        my($x);
        $test = $what->[0];
        unless($what->[0] =~ /->/ || $what->[0] !~
/::$/) {
            for (sort keys %{eval "*$what->[0]"}) {
                unshift @foo,
["$what->[0]$_",$what->[1].' '];
            }
        }
        $what->[0]=~s/::$//;
        $x=eval "\$$what->[0]";
        push @OUT, qq`$what->[1]$what->[0] - ${\(eval
"\$$what->[0]")}\n`;

        if(ref($x) eq "HASH") {
            for(sort keys %{$x}) {
                unshift @foo,
["$what->[0]\->{'$_'}","$what->[1] "];
            }
            next;
        }
        if(ref($x) eq "ARRAY") {
            for(my $i = 0; $i < @{$x}; $i++) {
                unshift @foo,

            }
            next;

Hello

Can the interchange use pgp instead of cc gateway?

Reply-To: interchange-users@lists.akopia.com

I'm having difficulty figuring out why orders aren't be mailed to the
appropriate individual.
Here is my set up...
On the order page I have several if statements that looks at the mv_pc
attribute and if it equal one of our sales rep then that order is emailed to
that sales rep.
In the building process of our site I used myself as the test subject. I
then went through and changed all the values to the appropriate settings in
catalog.cfg.
After regenerating the site and restarting the server I then went through
and ran a test. The orders are being email to me the test subject instead of
the being email to the rep.

I setup a test server and created a test site with all the same variable and
function and everything on the test server works exactly as it should.

So I'm stumped any ideas???

My set up...

I was wondering if some lay-out similar to what k5 (www.kuro5hin.org) has
set up (I think with scoop) would be helpful. (Disregard the content
of the k5 site, just the possibilities it offers to organize content
per subject category, to moderate by admin, to moderate by readers, and
display and search threads within one article within each category)

The advantage would be that you could post articles (user
provided smaller documentation articles) and questions per
section or category. You could search the comments by threads within
each article and category, readers could rate the comments (up and
down) and you could read them on a certain rating level. This would be a
self-moderating process whereby superfluous or repetitive comments would
be rated down (but not deleted) and the goodies would be rated up, thus
easier to find for newcomers later on.

This might be a possibility to include beginner's questions and
developer's advanced topics in all sections, but would provide a
method of distinguishing them through a self-moderation and rating
process by the readership. The archived articles and comments would be
searchable, the whole set-up can still be moderated by the admin to
prevent gross abuse. It would also force posters to cut down previous
comments in size. Overall it would provide better subject categorization
of comments, I think. There are features within the set-up which would
allow some "community" building thingies like taking an off-topic, but
interesting subject away into the "diary" section, or polls etc.

May be someone could hack out something like an digest delivery system
for each section based on a medium rating level of provided comments.

Robert,

It appears that the that in your catalog.cfg the line is not entered right.
Can you send the lines from your catalog.cfg file that has the variable for
your DSN?

Thanks,

Dan Gaarwood

Subject: [ic] GPG is driving me crazy!!!!
Reply-To: interchange-users@lists.akopia.com

I can not for the life of me get GPG working. I created keyrings in the
folder of the user running interchange. In the catalog.cfg file I have
tried several things, but this is what I have currently:
/usr/bin/gpg --encrypt --armor orders@icmtec.com
No matter what I try I get the same thing. NOTHING. The order goes
through fine, but there is no credit card info when I get it. It is just
blank.
I imagine others have had similar problems so I really hope someone can
help.
Thanks.

Subject: [ic] How do I encrypt the checking account info?
Reply-To: interchange-users@lists.akopia.com

I have a problem that I'm hoping that someone could help me with. I can
encrypt the credit card info from an order just fine, however, when I
attempted to encrypt the checking account info (account number, routing
number, and check number) either that data was absent from the report
email message or I received it in an unencrypted form. I guess I'm pretty
much stuck right now. I've tried to do this about six different
ways. About the only thing left that I know of that I haven't tried yet
is to encrypt the entire order report message. I seem to recall something
in the docs telling how to do this. I've tried all of the obvious things
here, I believe. Surely, there is an easy, straightforward way of
accomplishing what I'm wanting to do here. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. I'm running Interchange 4.6.4 on a RH 6.2 system.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

This is a good sujestion!

Maybe even having a beginnger & advance list??? This way the newbies can
help
each other, and the ones that have been along for awhile can have our
advanced
list for real coding issues...
