As someone else pointed out to you earlier, this is a bass-ackwards way of 
doing it.  It seems that you want to exclude items that have '1' in their 
inactive field - make your life easy and use mv_column_op - I believe there 
are some good examples in the docs section for coordinated searching 
(Interchange Database).
