[ic] SEARCH BY drop down menus

Hi All

I am trying to add three drop down menu to my site, 

1 to search by category, 
2 to search by brand name
3 to search by prices (£1 to £100, £101 to £199, etc)

I want all these menus to be dynamic with the IC. So when i change a category in the admin area, this will automatically update the menus.
I have tried changing the template; category_vertical but i cant get it to work. 
Can someone give me source code to do this
