[ic] 4.8.3 crashing - no one helps - will have to switch tosomething with real support

Some more information would be useful at this point:

  1) Which Perl version are you using?
  2) Which OS and version of that OS?
  3) Hardware information (memory size etc.)
  4) Is there anything you can do to encourage it to crash?  Perhaps
     it mostly happens when you reconfig the catalogue, or whatever.
  5) Are you using the PreFork server mode or not (or don't know).
  6) Actual error messages would be nice, rather than "it was related
     to the (non-existent) vend.pm, but I didn't think it was worth
     writing down", or words to that effect.

I can't speak for others here, but my mindreading skills are not what
they once were, so for a speedier recovery, or at least an outside
chance of "real support", I think it would be best if you could point
out any other information you think may be of some help in the diagnosis.
