How about variables.gdbm? I am currently working on a system for someone
else that is running IC 4.8.3 and the file variables.txt is there and we
are using it. When you restart the server, the variables.txt is read
into the variables.gdbm.

This should be in your $catalogroot/products directory.

This sounds encouraging... Thanks!

Hmmm variables.txt. I don't seem to have a file by that name anywhere
on
my filesystem. Perhaps a leftover from a prior release?

Note that the foundation demo works without that file being present....

I notice from reading the list archives that most people arrive at 4.8.3

by upgrading from an old release... Has anyone tried installing 4.8.3
from scratch?

W/RT tarball vs. RPM. On redhat system I try to use rpm's. It is a
Redhat OS, and a Redhat app (IC) and RPM is the preferred Redhat
distribution media...

Thanks again for your response! Any help is greatly appreciated!
