[ic] search fields

A client has a coordinated search which has the following fields to search:
author
title
category
illustrator

How would I display on the results page, the name of the fields which were
searched... eg if they only fill out author category, on search form, how
can i make it display
 "You searched for author - whatever in category - whatever"
Using [value mv_search_field] only pulls up a list of ALL search_field
values, whether empty or not.
is there something similar to $Values->{mv_searchspec}[0] i can use ??
