I haven't been following this thread very well either.  However,
here's some suggestions.  First, can you login to MySQL from the
prompt?  If not, then MySQL either isn't starting or crashing for some
reason.  Can you do it using the username and password in
products/variables.txt?  If not, then this is simply a
username/password issue.

What ever it turns out to be, it seems like IC is "doing the right
thing here".  I'm hedging my bets this is a MySQL problem.
