I am not a programmer but seem to have gotten most upgrade
problems fixed by reading the error logs and adding all of
the missing tables and fields that have shown up and reading
the mailing list.

It takes some simple looking in logs and some time
to help get things up from 4.8.x.

Somewhere in the mail archives is a discussion about
adding products and what fields needed to be added to fix your
probem, do a quick lookup and you may find what is needed to
fix your problem, this is what I did to fix the problem
your having.

One warning NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use
a beta or alpha product on a production server before
testing on another server or setup, this way you will
never "Be up a creek".

Another server could be a old PC that has enough resources
to put IC onto and import your data from your production machine.
You could even spend 300 dollars to build some simple machine. This
would be cheap in comparisions to the loss of sales if you just
blatently upgrade your server before thinking about the outcome.

I am myself am still in testing prior to the 4.9/5.0 upgrade.
The PC I am using is a 500mhz AMD, 2 meg vid, 4 gig hardrive and 128
megs of ram, total cost 150.00 US dollars all bought used.

BTW my production server is still working all during my testing phase.
