"I need to modify the appearance of the shopping cart "process.html" page
(e.g. http://somedomain.com/cgi-bin/somecatalog/process.html). However,
because there doesn't appear to be an actual "proces.html" page I am at a
loss as to which to modify. Any insights?"

process.html is not actually a page. Take a look at the page that is calling
that page and take a look at the hidden form variables in the top of the
form. There should be a variable called mv_nextpage that should start to
give you some hints.
