[ic] best way to learn IC?

What is the best way to learn IC?  Is it simply reading the manuals?  I've 
done a lot of poking around with my store, looking stuff up in the manuals, 
and reading this list, but I'm wondering if I should be reading some of the 
manuals cover to cover to get a establish a real base.  Would you guys say 
that's true?  And if so, which ones are must-reads from front to back?
