UserDB.pm:      $USERNAME_GOOD_CHARS
UserDB.pm:$USERNAME_GOOD_CHARS = '[-A-Za-z0-9_@.]';
UserDB.pm:              if ($self->{USERNAME} !~
m{^$USERNAME_GOOD_CHARS+$}) {
UserDB.pm:                      if $self->{USERNAME} !~
m{^$USERNAME_GOOD_CHARS+$};

Adding the umlaut into $USERNAME_GOOG_CHARS should works.
