AFAIK, IC doesn't care if it's called over a "virtual" host or a
"non-virtual" host (usually the difference is that the
non-virtual one is just the first virtal :)). I have a virtual
host setup and I didn't even though about it :) It's just
working!

This shouldn't be a problem AFAIK. You have to put the link CGI
and the images correctly of course, but you can run IC in a
completly different place. It's even possible to run IC as a
different user that the user that uses the link CGI as long as IC
is able to read and write the things that belong to the catalog.
