[ic] 4.8.6 doesn't work without root

What path are you attempting to install interchange to -=20
/home/george/interchange? Or some other path? When you initially run=20
configure in the dist directory, it asks you for the Interchange=20
installation path, and writes your answer to a dozen or so files which=20
eventually go into VENDROOT.
