[ic] Layout Editor: Organize your site into categories

I am needing to redesign the left categories basically putting them each in
a small table with gif header and footer. I have not yet figured out where
to do this. Is this done from the Layout Editor: Organize your site into
categories?
I have been modifying the leftright template to make many of my changes but
don't see how to modify my side bar?

Can anyone give me some general direction.
