Hello
I could not find this report somewhere else so I think this might be
interesting.
When trying to rpm -ba the src.rpm package from
http://ftp.icdevgroup.org/interchange/4.9/srpm/interchange-4.9.8-1.src.rpm
<http://ftp.icdevgroup.org/interchange/4.9/srpm/interchange-4.9.8-1.src.rpm>
on my Red Hat Linux 7.3 box (8.0 and 9 are obviously unsupported by
interchange 4.9.8 ?) the build comes to
Writing
/var/tmp/interchange-4.9.8-buildroot/usr/lib/interchange/auto/Interchange/.packlist
/usr/bin/perl Makefile.PL force nocpaninstall=1
final=/var/tmp/interchange-4.9.8-buildroot/usr/lib/interchange
and then CPU goes to 100% (70% user, 30% sys) and remains there - for at
least 24 hours now, until I stopped the build process with CTRL-C.
I have no idea what might be the problem, the perl version is the stock
version coming with Red Hat 7.3:
rpm -qi perl
Name : perl Relocations: (not relocateable)
Version : 5.6.1 Vendor: Red Hat, Inc.
Release : 34.99.6 Build Date: Mon 01 Apr 2002
19:29:26 CEST
Install date: Die 18 Jun 2002 22:14:52 CEST Build Host:
daffy.perf.redhat.com
Group : Development/Languages Source RPM:
perl-5.6.1-34.99.6.src.rpm
Anyone any idea ?
Should I upgrade some part of the 7.3 system ? What are the
prerequisites for a successful interchange build on RH 7.3 ? I think
this should be answered by the SPEC file, but it isn't.
