Essex is right there in state.txt, and appears to have been there since
August 31, 2001. Am I misunderstanding the problem?

Hmmm, I am using 4.8.5 files, and it was not in my database - maybe it was
added since then.... I just check the 4.9.x demo, and you're right it is
listed - could have sworn I looked at that last night, and didn't see it.

oh well, never mind.
