Each directory that should not be rewrited has to have an own line:

RewriteRule ^/images/.*        -     [PT,L]
RewriteRule ^/interchange/.*   -     [PT,L]
RewriteRule ^/interchange-5/.* -     [PT,L]

that skips the rewrite-rule for all directories underneath the /images
directory
