Just a note. I have had troubles with log_transaction myself: At one
point interchange mysteriously stopped working...it would time out when
orders submitted. Upon diff-ing against backups I saw that this:

__MVC_FIELDMUNGE__

Went away at a couple of places in the file...when I put them back all
was better.

Now that I have this file mounted r/o I havn't had any problem, although
it is quite disturbing. Out of morbid curiosity: is there any particular
reasons why this logic(specific to log_transaction) seems so
historically shaky; and are there any plans for a reworking of it in
future releases?

Also, while I am on the soap box...is there any reason that shipping.asc
must be so finicky about tabulation and so forth? Perhaps this table
could be moved to mysql...or given the ability to use a very powerful
perl regex system, it could be more forgiving.

Finally, upon logging database accesses, the shipping calculation
mechanism generally makes what seems like an excessive amount of often
duplicate queries(db)...Is this anything that has been addressed or is
on the plate?

All of my questions should be understood to be those of someone running
on:
- 4.8.5
- MySQL
- Linux (2.4.18 kernel)
- Apache 2 - latest
- The latest and greatest Perl

Thanks in advance for anyone willing to attempt to dislodge these long
bottled concerns. Also, they are just concerns, not necessarily
criticisms, my experiences with Interchange have been pleasant and
rewarding as a whole...I owe the developers a thanks for this...
