I would suggest turning on mysql logging and then seeing what kind of 
queries are being received from IC when you are trying to navigate the 
backend (if you see alot of 'select * from table' without filtering 
criteria, that is very likely to bog down the Admin when dealing with large 
tables). Also, run top and observe it when trying these operations. These 
would be my first steps to trying to identify the bottleneck.
