Hi Russell,
I work for an e-commerce store based in Scotland. Basically Scotland has
'counties' just like England and Wales. A quick google turned up this page:
http://www.peak.org/~jeremy/dictionary/tables/counties.php
In which the last table had a decent list of Scottish counties. I've
found that just allowing users to type in their region/county/state can
be easier than providing a list half the time.

The default list for "UK" in fact only lists English counties (omitting
Scotland and Wales). There's a full list of the counties of Great
Britain here...
http://jonathan.rawle.org/hyperpedia/counties/map98.php
It's worth noting that Great Britain != United Kingdom so if you're
offering counties when the user selects "UK" you should add
considerations for Northern Ireland, etc. The CIA have a list of all
the counties, districts, royal boroughs, etc.
http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/uk.html
Perhaps once you decide which of these to include in the list it can be
added into Interchange CVS, as the default for 5.2 is clearly
incorrect.

Message-ID: <000001c4d7a2$e8520660$65c8a8c0@arlaptop>
Hi All
IC 5.3
Perl 5.6.1
Mysql
In the last hour I have suddenly been unable to save (OK) from the Item
Editor screen. This has been tested on 2 catalogs.
This worked fine before an hour ago. I was simply changing the color on
a
within a
in the continent of a product.
I was editing a number of products when suddenly it stopped working.
When I press OK the flex_edit is shown in lower corner (IE) but page
eventually times out.
This error is in the apache error log:
copy script args timed out'
I have restarted the server without success.

Andrew Rich

well I know my server is running, it shows up when I listed the processes,
and it loads up just fine, or so I think.
I have tried several different chmod numbers to see if it would work,
sometimes I get We're sorry sometimes I get internal server error,
I have worked on the cgi-bin and the socket but still nothing, just the
customer admin entrance, and We're Sorry

When you restart Interchange, do you get any errors about the catalog?
Does the startup say that the catalog is loaded?

No, the catalog loads fine like so;
[root@www root]# su -c "/usr/lib/interchange/bin/interchange -r" interch
bash: /root/.bashrc: Permission denied
Killing Interchange server 21029 with TERM.
Sending debug to /var/log/interchange/debug.log.
Low traffic settings.
Calling UI......UI is loaded...
Interchange V5.2.0
Configuring catalog foundation...Using default DBM database...done.
Configuring catalog test1...Using default DBM database...done.
Configuring catalog titl...Using MySQL, DSN=dbi:mysql:test_titl...done.

Subject: [ic] Rewrite problems in admin
Message-ID: <000001c4d7b2$98c1ba40$6701a8c0@SAM>
In an attempt to improve site indexing I have used the rewrite options
below
RewriteRule ^$ /cgi-bin/site/index.html [PT,L]
RewriteRule ^/$ /cgi-bin/site/index.html [PT,L]
RewriteRule ^/index\.html$ /cgi-bin/site/index.html [PT,L]
RewriteRule ^/cgi-bin/site/.* - [PT,L]
RewriteRule ^/.*images/.* - [PT,L]
RewriteRule ^/(.*) /cgi-bin/site/$1 [PT,L]
The problem I am running into seems to be with the admin section which
constantly drops me into login. I am sure that the rewriterules are to
blame but I cannot seem to get on the right track with a solution. Any
help with this would be greatly appreciated!.

Message-ID:
I've been trying to troubleshoot this message;
"/cgi-bin/titl CGI mapping error: Undefined catalog: /cgi-bin/titl at /usr/lib/interchange/lib/Vend/Server.pm line 207." in the interchange error log which corresponds to a "Undefined catalog: /cgi-bin/titl" error returned to the browser.
by adding such lines as;
::logGlobal( { level => 'error' }, "script name:".$CGI::script_name."\n");
to the /usr/lib/interchange/lib/Vend/Server.pm file and restarting interchange.
However I can't get the server to log any of my messages, or respond to any of my code. Though if I put in a syntax error, interchange will not start and reports the error to the command line. Even if I add lines to that file, interchange stil reports the error to be on line 207 of Server.pm.
(I am pretty new to working with packages so I accept that I may have missed something basic)
Thanks,
Tom H

As some may have guessed this was not actually any Interchange issue!
Apparently the ISP of where my server is hosted was having some problems
(may have been MTU size!). So host people contacted ISP today whom
seemed to have resolved their problem.
Thanks anyone who read the message. I do have some real questions to
ask but will get around to them soon.

Dont top post, you'll get less replys that way.
try coping your vlink and tlink programs into the cgi-bin directory or make
a symbolic link to them, that should do it.
if it doesnt then look up "we're sorry the interchange server is not
running" on the development site, also look up starting or restarting
interchange.

I am not sure I understand your question completely. By the looks of it, it
looks right.
are you doing this in your httpd.conf file or .htaccess file
you may need to specify
RewriteBase / #or what ever the base maybe
and
Options +FollowSymLinks #maybe mistype
Good Luck,
Tom

I think I ran into this same problem when I was trying to get my rewrites to
work
to clean up my URLs. And I think, as I recall, lines such as these should help.
The following is in my .htaccess.
RewriteRule ^admin/item_edit$ /~YourHome/cgi-bin/cart.cgi/$1$2 [L,NS,PT]
RewriteRule ^admin/flex_editor$ /~YourHome/cgi-bin/cart.cgi/$1$2 [L,NS,PT]
Most likely someone else knows more and/or has a better solution, but if nothing
else
that could be a start.
