[ic] Interchange as a POS

I am trying to use IC as an open source POS.(point of sale) I am using the
order entry under the admin screen, and scanning bar codes into it.   

I have 2 questions:

1. If I buy a magnatic stripe  reader, and scan credit cards with it, will
echo-inc take it for the lower discount rate (They say they will but I
don't know if they know what they are talking about)

2. Is there a Add-on, to IC that will let me do this a better way?
