[ic] intermittent "500 read error" since upgrade

I've been running a particular job file hourly on
4.9.3 for quite a while with no errors.  I recently
upgraded to 5.0, and my host also upgraded Perl to
allow for the IC upgrade.  Since then I've been
noticing intermittent "500 read error" messages in my
error.log relating to the running of the
above-mentioned job file.  Does this info ring any
kind of bells for anyone?  It's all I've got.
