[ic] checkout hangs

OK,

I have a new problem.

My checkout page just hangs.  I don't get anything in the error log.   
It just sits there until the browser times out.  It doesn't even  
draw.  Just click on the checkout button and wait, and wait, and wait.

We are using the foundation store with only a few additions to  
shipping.asc and a few deletions to country.txt

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this.  (I'm  
very linux capable, but new to interchange.)
