A bit nasty and inefficient, but you could try this:
[mytag title="[data table=products column=title key='[item-code]']"]
A better method:
[tmp tmp][item-field title][/tmp]
[mytag title="[scratch tmp]"]
This one will probably work too:
[mytag title="[restrict][item-field title][/restrict]"]
