[ic] RE: interchange-users Digest, Vol 35, Issue 24

Hi Richard,
Thanks for sending the updated info. We'll start knocking out the final
changes. On the mailing list piece: this item is out of scope (I
believe you and I've discussed this several times :) The 2 databases are
used for: 1.Content Management and 2.E-commerce. The mail list will
actually add a table to the first database, this isn't the issue. The
time involved in integrating the mail list is the reason it will be held
for Phase II. I hope this isn't a surprise as we've discussed
previously.

I'll get you the updated contract Tuesday and we'll keep you posted on
the last updates.

Enjoy the remainder of your holiday weekend!
Thanks,
Kyle

Howe different is 5.4.1 from the 5.5.x CVS? I'm about to deploy another
box with IC, and I'm wondering which to choose. (Yes, I know 5.5.x is
development, I'm wondering if/what there are things in 5.5.x that are
not in
5.4.1 that I might take advantage of.)

Bob

Bob,

The 5.5.x branch (and of course the upcoming 6.0) breaks compatibility
with 5.4.x and older trees, as you can see at:

  http://www.icdevgroup.org/i/dev/news?mv_arg=00013

For a list of changes, see

  http://www.icdevgroup.org/docs/WHATSNEW.html

I think others might add a comment or two about their experience with
5.5.x in practical setups.

Have a nice day,

This will 'capture' or 'settle' the card when you change the status to
'shipped' in the UI. This requires you to have done an 'auth' at
checkout.

Yes, although it should be there by default.

IC won't capture the card unless it is 'shipped'.

If I have a large order that is waiting on one small item, I like to get
the funds when I ship the majority of the order. To do this, I 'ship' it
(capturing the card) but don't send an email to the customer; then I
update it as partial, 'ship per status above', and email the customer.

Later when the last item ships, I can 'ship' all, and I'll get an error
message that it was already captured, but that's ok. Maybe someone else
has a simpler method...

Do I have to change anything else in my settings to only do an 'auth' at
checkout or does adding SETTLE_TRANSACTION and setting it to 1
accomplish this? Also, does anyone know how long after authorizing a
card will authorize.net allow you to settle the transaction?

Thank you
