As Peter said, the interpolate or not interpolate behavior of those tags
is just a default and can be overridden, which may be a little confusing
to the casual reader but can be useful.

That was actually by Greg Sabino Mullane; I just committed it. But yes, it
should be helpful, and of course patches welcome if you find limitations
in its checking.
