[ic] CommonAdjust Matrix Options varaints sale_price

I am trying to have the sale_price column which I set in the variants table
be displayed on my fly page using [item options price="1"].  Reading through
the docs it looks like CommonAdjust should do the job but I am having a hard
time wrapping my mind around how it would work.

Currently in catalog.cfg I have
CommonAdjust   pricing:q5,q10 ;variants:sale_price, ;:sale_price, ;:price,
;$, :related, ==:option

But it doesn't work how can I set this up so that sale_price in variants is
displayed with [item options price="1"].  Any pointers would be very
helpful.
