Peter - this is still a great guide.
Please update this line as the version has changed:
sudo rpm -Uvh 
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm

to

sudo rpm -Uvh 
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm

or newer if something better is available.
