I had the impression that Americans drive a few hours to their destination without
even thinking about it :-).

Seriously, the reason is that one of the partners owning the resort is also an
Interchange developer, which makes it way easier to organizing the conference.
Especially as we couldn't tell beforehand how many participants we get.

Also it is a very nice place.

You really enjoy it if you make it there :-)
