I've been looking for the answer to this. I am sure there is a simple 
perl code or method to do this.

When the results page is brought up, The customer would like each 
item to be listed with the number.

1. first item on list.
2. second item on list.
.....

I am sure there is a simple method to do this.

Any suggestions?  (sucks when you look for simple things with the 
search engine).
