[mv] Still stumped setting inventory in products DB

I am still stumped here, after trying everything listed in the DOCS and what
I could find in the mailing list.

I need to set the inventory of a product to 0 after it is ordered.

I have added;
Database            products	WRITE_CONTROL  1
Database            products       WRITE_ALWAYS        1

to the catalog.cfg

and;
[tag flag write]products[/tag]
[data table=products column=inventory key="[item-code]" value="0"]
[tag touch]products[/tag]

to the receipt.html

The output to the page when the order is completed is;

0
1

The products.txt is not written to either, the inventory stays at 1

Any help with why the inventory is not being set to 0 would be appreciated.
