[ic] limit length of [item-field comment] when returned on search results

Hi all,

I am thinking about putting a portion of the 
[item-field comment] on a special search results
page.  Im figuring that there is a simple way to
[filter] or something so that you get this:

"This is the comment for this field.  The 
comment actually is longer, and goes on......"

so is there a filter for the length that is returned?
