Hey! I resent that.

You come here with your problems that are created by the way CPanel installs
Interchange. Your solution is simple, if done by your hoster. You complained
about not being able to find things that are found by everyone else. That
is because you and your ISP and CPanel decided to use the high-end
application
I have personally put 10,000 hours of work into and given to the net.
**I've put in 28 years helping people in my industry as well... many for
free... if I ever brush any one of them off with a question they ask that I
can answer, regardless of whether I "owe" them a "free" explanation, I hope
they tell me what a pompous ass I seem to be in their eyes...
---
You paid your server host dollars to provide the service. You haven't
paid me or anyone else contributing to IC dime one. Your hosting
provider is the one who owes support, not us.
**No, but I've contributed graphics and server space free. But regarding my
hosting provider, you've got me there. I knew going into this a year ago
that my hosting provider (and most of them offering IC on CPanel) would not
provide support for IC... they state so right up front... they don't even
try to hide it in the fine print. But at the time I signed up for that kind
of package, I'd never even heard of IC Developer's group. So I can't blame
my hosting provider, and I certainly can't blame you for my gullibility. I
can't even say I'm a victim of circumstance. Just gullible.
---
I don't owe you a thing, and neither does anyone here as far as I am
concerned. You have definitely lost any attention you might have ever
gotten from me.
**I would have to disagree with you on this one. You, and everyone else in
here owe me and everybody else in here the common respect for the dumbest of
us that you give the smartest of us. Of course, that's just my opinion.

Regarding any attention I might have ever gotten from you, I won't really be
missing much, because I haven't gotten much. I'm not faulting you for that.
Just stating a fact. If I taught Quantum physics at Harvard, I might lose
my patiece if I had to explain basic multiplication to several hundred
people a week. So you feel you owe me nothing, and I feel that's what
you've given me, and that's what I've thanked you for.

I think the issue is actually with CPanel. It really isn't possible to
configure interchange in anything other than the most primitive
configuration by using cpanel. Whoever had the idea to put it in cpanel,
which is probably the cpanel people, should rethink it.
**I see the logic with your reasoning here, but removing if from CPanel at
this stage of the game would leave a lot of people high and dry. I
understand the developers are too busy to concern themselves with a "third
party" problem. Conversely, why wouldn't a developer want IC to work
consistently under CPanel, when there seem to be so many CPanel users who
would benefit?
---
It really needs a
server on which you have shell access. A server on which you have root
access is better still.
**That's why I included the following paragraph in the request I sent that
prompted Mike Heins CPanel rant:
>>Hypothetical Question: IF I had root access to the server on the second
>>example, what would I look for to correct this configuration? Would it be
a
>>modification of interchange.cfg to reflect certain, e.g. placing a
directive
>>there? If so, would someone be so kind as to take the time to describe
how,
>>step-by-step? My Linux Bible Redhat 7.3 is on the way from Amazon, but
>>won't be here for another four days. :-)
I would rather Mike Heins just have stayed out of it if he didn't have the
courtesy to just answer the above question, which is not CPanel related. I
bought a server two month ago, but don't feel comfortable enough yet to do
anything with it but learn.
---
The illusion of inclusion of an ecommerce package
probably helps cpanel sell licenses to hosting providers. Then guys like
you are stuck trying to configure interchange from cpanel when it really
isn't possible for you to and people like us are stuck because we can't help
you.
I'd like to see the CPanel people try to configure IC on a CPanel
equipped host.
**Thanks for your courtesy. I guess I'll be signing off this list now.
Best 2 U,
