The "mysql" (MySQL) and "postgres" (PostgreSQL) USE flags already exist,
and are auto-set by Portage when a database server is installed. The
bundle could check for the database USE flags it has been told about,
and add DBD module (and database server) dependencies, as appropriate.
There are bound to be USE flags for the likes of Oracle and Sybase too.
I haven't looked.
