What a weird article. It implies that sales tax isn't being applied
consistently... but it is. E-commerce sites are being treated just like
any other mail order business. Which means that it is up to the consumers
to report the sales tax, not the business. This is to save the mail order
companies from multi-state tax hell. Does anyone really want to have to
keep all of their stores up to date with taxes from all fifty states? And
then what about international orders?
